Eye Benches I, II and III, Public art installation at Olympic Sculpture Park, Seattle, United States.
Eye Benches I, II and III are three pairs of black Zimbabwe granite seating benches at Olympic Sculpture Park. Each pair is designed in abstract form to resemble large, open eyes.
Louise Bourgeois created these sculptural benches in 1996 and 1997, then donated them to the park in 2006. Since then, they have remained a permanent fixture of the park's art collection.
The benches blend functional seating with artistic vision, inviting visitors to sit and experience the park from a fresh viewpoint. They explore how we observe and understand the spaces around us through visual forms.
You can sit on these benches to rest and observe the park and other artworks nearby. They are easy to find and offer a good place to pause during a walk through the grounds.
Each of the three bench pairs has different sizes and shapes that offer varying viewpoints. Visitors discover new details depending on where they stand when looking at the sculptures.
