Lewis and Clark Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Louisville, United States
The Lewis and Clark Bridge spans the Ohio River with two towers supporting steel cables that extend down to the center of the structure.
The bridge opened in December 2016 as part of the Ohio River Bridges Project, connecting previously separated sections of Interstate 265 around Louisville.
The structure bears the names of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, commemorating the explorers who charted territories across North America in the early 1800s.
The bridge incorporates four traffic lanes in each direction, an eleven-foot pedestrian walkway, and electronic toll collection systems for efficient traffic management.
The bridge design features main towers reaching 229 feet with convex diamond shapes, creating a central cable pattern that reduces maintenance requirements.
