Hollywood Plantation is a two-story brick mansion with a slate roof and four white Ionic columns framing the entrance portico. The surrounding grounds include seven additional structures such as a manager's residence, swimming pool, garages, stables, and a caretaker's cottage situated across about 38 acres.
The mansion was built in 1928 for Henry Devereux following a fire that destroyed an earlier structure on the site. It earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.
The mansion includes traditional architectural elements with red brick laid in Flemish bond and white marble from the Georgia Marble Company for decorative features.
The property requires advance planning as visiting is by appointment only, so contact local information sources ahead of time. The mansion sits in a rural area outside Thomasville, which means having a vehicle is necessary to reach it.
The original owner Henry Devereux was a Yale graduate and railroad executive who founded nearby Pastime Stables for winter harness racing training. This operation became a notable hub for breeding and conditioning racing horses in the region.
