America's Courtyard, Stone sculpture at Adler Planetarium, Chicago, United States.
America's Courtyard features fifty-six rectangular granite blocks arranged in concentric circles with four marble pieces at its center, near Lake Michigan.
The sculpture moved to its current location south of Adler Planetarium in December 2000, after initial placement near the Art Institute of Chicago.
Brazilian artists Denise Milan and Ary Perez created this outdoor installation to symbolize the connection between North and South American nations.
Located at 1521 South Linn White Drive, the sculpture remains accessible throughout the year as part of Chicago's Public Art Collection.
Astronomer Phyllis Pitluga configured the stone elements to create four pathways that align with the sun's movement during seasonal solstices.
