Palo Duro State Park
Palo Duro State Park, Texas state park and National Natural Landmark in Randall County, US.
The park extends across 29,182 acres of land, featuring multicolored canyon walls, rocky formations, and native grasslands at an elevation of 934 meters.
The Prairie Dog Town Fork of the Red River carved this canyon over millions of years, creating layers of rock that date back to the Permian Period.
Native American tribes, including the Comanche and Kiowa, established settlements within the canyon before European exploration of the region began.
Visitors can access multiple camping options, including sites with electricity, tent areas, equestrian facilities, and cabins positioned both on the rim and canyon floor.
The park contains the second-largest canyon system in the United States, with over 30 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
