The Mausoleum of Imam al-Hasan is located in Basra's Zubayr district and features a distinctive conical domed tower ornamented with carved reliefs. Inside the structure rest the tombs of Hasan and Ibn Sirin, while a prayer room occupies one section of the shrine for worship.

The mausoleum holds the tomb of Hasan al-Basri, a scholar of the generation following the Prophet's companions, who died in Basra in 110 AH (728 CE). The conical domed tower above the shrine was built in 606 AH (1209–1210 CE) under the Abbasid caliph al-Nasir li-Din Allah, in a Seljuk style with a wider lower diameter tapering upward. The shrine also contains the grave of Ibn Sirin, who died about a hundred days after Hasan.

The shrine draws visitors who wish to honor Hasan al-Basri, an influential Islamic scholar from the early period. People come here to pray and feel a spiritual connection to this historical figure.

When visiting, note that the northern section features pillars decorated with plaster paintings that help define the space. The building has limited facilities, so plan for a brief to moderate visit and be mindful of uneven historic grounds.

The conical tower was built in 1185 CE under the 34th Abbasid Caliph al-Nasir, in Seljuk style, with a wider lower diameter tapering upward. A small prayer room inside also serves as a mosque. The shrine of Hasan is made of marble stones.
