Al-Maqam Mosque, Religious monument in Basra, Iraq.

The Al-Maqam Mosque encompasses 600 square meters with two minarets reaching 25 meters in height and a blue dome featuring inscriptions from Dhikir al-Hakim.

Built in 1754 during the Ottoman period, the mosque stands on the site of a shrine established in 772 by a descendant of Muhammad and Imam Ali al-Ridha.

The mosque maintains two specialized libraries containing Islamic texts, with the second floor facility named after Imam Ali bin Musa al-Ridha.

The prayer hall accommodates 500 worshippers and connects directly to the Shatt al-Arab river, facilitating access for visitors from different parts of the city.

The Ministry of Awqaf conducted extensive renovations in 1922, adding an outer wall around the courtyard while preserving the original inner wall structure.
