Kuala Lumpur International Airport
Kuala Lumpur International Airport, International airport in Sepang, Malaysia
The airport complex spans across 100 square kilometers of former agricultural land, featuring two main terminals connected by an automated rail system.
The airport opened on June 27, 1998, replacing the previous Subang International Airport to accommodate Malaysia's growing air travel demands.
The terminal buildings integrate Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa's design principles with Islamic geometric patterns and natural lighting elements.
Express trains, buses, and taxis connect the airport to Kuala Lumpur city center, with the rail journey taking 28 minutes to cover the 45-kilometer distance.
Terminal 1 contains a satellite building linked to the main terminal by an automated Aerotrain that transports passengers through an underground tunnel.
