Sepang International Circuit is a motorsport racing track in Sepang District, Malaysia, stretching over 3.4 miles (5.5 kilometers) with fifteen turns and eight straights. The facility features multiple grandstand sections along the course and accommodates tens of thousands of spectators.
The government opened the facility in March 1999 as part of national infrastructure development under Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. From 1999 to 2017 it hosted Formula One races before shifting focus to other international competitions.
The complex draws motorsport fans from across Southeast Asia and serves as a regional hub for top-level racing competitions. On race days the grounds transform into a meeting point for enthusiasts from different nations.
The complex sits near Kuala Lumpur International Airport and is accessible via major roads. Visitors should expect hot and humid weather along with possible afternoon rain showers.
