The garden opened in 2003 as part of the development of Malaysia's administrative capital. Its creation followed a larger planning initiative to shape Putrajaya.

Visitors can walk through the grounds or rent bicycles to move between the different sections more easily. Paddle boats are also available if you want to see parts of the garden from the water.
