Istana Darul Ehsan

The Istana Darul Ehsan is a six-story building displaying Tudor architecture with a deep grey facade, situated beside Putrajaya Lake. The structure includes lift services to help movement between its various floors.

The building was completed in 2000 after Selangor State agreed to transfer its territory in Putrajaya to the federal government. This agreement marked a key moment in Malaysia's reorganization of its administrative structures.

The main lobby features Malaysian marble that blends local craftsmanship with royal design elements. This choice shows how the Sultan of Selangor's residence incorporates materials valued in the region into its interior spaces.

The building is not open to public visits, so you can only see it from outside. The best views come from the surrounding park areas or from the waterside paths along the lake.

The building was constructed as a symbol of cooperation between the federal government and Selangor State. Its lakeside location was deliberately chosen to physically represent this political partnership through its design.
