Buloh Kasap Bridge, Historical bridge in Buloh Kasap, Malaysia
The Buloh Kasap Bridge crosses the Muar River along Federal Route 1 and connects different areas of the Segamat District in Johor. The structure uses a single-lane dual carriageway design that serves modern traffic on the federal highway system.
The bridge was built by the Federal Malay States Public Works Department and completed in 1930. After its destruction during World War II, it was rebuilt multiple times.
The name comes from a bamboo species that once grew thickly in this region when the settlement developed. The name preserves a memory of what the landscape was like long ago.
The bridge is accessed as part of normal road use on Federal Route 1 with standard driving conditions. Keep in mind that this is an active transit point with regular traffic flow and safety considerations.
Before this road bridge was built, local people used a railway bridge to cross the Muar River, as shown in letters from 1918. This earlier crossing shows how long the river has been important for connecting the area.
