Malacca Butterfly and Reptile Sanctuary, Butterfly and reptile sanctuary in Ayer Keroh, Malaysia

The Malacca Butterfly and Reptile Sanctuary is a building in Ayer Keroh that houses butterflies and reptiles in separate areas. The grounds also feature many flowering plants that support the ecosystem for the animals kept there.

The sanctuary began in 1990 as a private hobby project run by an individual. It then opened to the public in February 1991 as an official facility.

The facility serves as a place where visitors can watch Malaysian wildlife behaving naturally and learn about their ways of living. Direct encounters with living animals give people a deeper understanding of local species.

The entrance is located near the North-South Expressway at Plaza Ayer Keroh and is therefore easy to find. Plan enough time to explore both areas at a relaxed pace.

The plant selection in the facility follows a special plan to support the natural life cycles of butterflies. This creates a balanced ecosystem where the animals can thrive.
