Melaka Zoo and Bird Park, Animal conservation center in Ayer Keroh, Malaysia
Melaka Zoo and Bird Park is a facility housing over 1200 animals from around 200 species, including Malayan tigers, rhinoceroses, and numerous bird types. The grounds contain separate areas for different animal groups and allow visitors to walk through different habitats.
The zoo was established in 1963 under government management and operated for many years under that structure. In 2013, private management took over and brought changes to operations and facilities.
The zoo serves as a place where visitors learn about local animal species through daily presentations and feeding displays. These experiences help people develop a stronger connection to the wildlife found in the region.
Visitors can choose between walking and using the tram service to explore the grounds. Comfortable shoes are recommended, and rest areas and food outlets are located throughout the space.
On Friday and Saturday nights, the zoo offers a special night safari experience where nocturnal animals can be seen during their active hours. This allows visitors to observe animal behavior under conditions closer to their natural patterns.
