Muar Second Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Muar, Malaysia
The Muar Second Bridge is a cable-stayed crossing over the Muar River designed with two tall support towers that rise distinctly above the water. The structure spans from one bank to the other, carrying motor vehicles and pedestrians across its length.
The bridge was built between 2001 and 2003 to handle growing traffic in the area. It was created as an alternative route to the older Sultan Ismail Bridge.
The bridge serves as a central connection point between communities in Johor state, facilitating interaction and trade between residents on both sides of the river.
The bridge runs along Federal Route 224 and connects areas between Johor Bahru and Malacca, making it useful for those traveling between these regions. Traffic is heaviest during morning and evening commuting hours, so plan accordingly.
The bridge structure incorporates design elements similar to the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa Bay and includes the first complex interchange at Parit Bunga.
