The Malaysia Prison Museum exhibits prison artifacts, photographs, and documents within a two-story structure that reveals incarceration practices through the decades.
The building originated in 1860 as HM Prison Jail under Governor Colonel Cavenagh and transformed into a museum with its official opening in 2014.
The facility presents collections of inmate-created objects, historical prison equipment, and documentation that illustrates the evolution of Malaysian correctional practices.
Located at Jalan Parameswara, the museum opens Tuesday through Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM, with entry fees of RM3 for Malaysian citizens.
The museum maintains original prison cells with preserved inmate graffiti and displays a section of the Pudu Jail gate from 1895.
