The Democratic Government Museum occupies the former Malacca State Legislative Assembly building, displaying exhibits about Malaysian governance and political development through photographs and artifacts.
The foundation stone of this building was placed by Governor Tun Haji Abdul Malek bin Yusof on August 31, 1961, marking the beginning of its role in state legislation.
The museum documents the evolution of Malaysian democracy, presenting information about electoral processes, constitutional frameworks, and the integration of local traditions in governance.
Located in central Malacca, the museum welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with entrance fees of RM5 for adults and RM2 for students.
The museum houses records of legislative sessions from when the building served as the State Assembly until February 2000, before its relocation to Ayer Keroh.
