Pic dels Aspres

Pic dels Aspres is a mountain summit in La Massana reaching 2,562 meters in elevation and surrounded by a glacial cirque that holds the Estany de les Truites lake. Access to the peak follows marked hiking trails that begin from the Refugi de Coma Pedrosa, a mountain shelter in the valley below.

Archaeological finds show that Neolithic populations settled in the surrounding hills and left behind megalithic structures throughout the area. These ancient remains indicate that humans have traveled and worked in these alpine regions for thousands of years.

The peak forms part of the Parc Natural Comunal de les Valls del Comapedrosa and plays a central role in the region's alpine identity. Hikers and climbers experience the mountain as a defining landmark that connects communities to their natural surroundings.

The hike to the summit requires moderate to good fitness levels and some alpine experience, as trails gain elevation quickly through exposed terrain. Weather conditions can change rapidly at this altitude, so visitors should come prepared with layers and check local conditions before heading out.

Below the summit sits the Estany de les Truites, a natural mountain lake at around 2,300 meters (7,550 feet) elevation where native trout swim in its clear waters. The southern valley transforms into a winter sports zone during snowy months, creating an unusual contrast between quiet alpine scenery and active recreational slopes.
