Pic dels Aspres, Mountain summit in La Massana, Andorra

Pic dels Aspres is a mountain summit in the northwest of Andorra, in La Massana, reaching 2,562 metres near the Spanish border. About 250 metres below the summit lies a round glacial cirque roughly 100 metres across, now filled by the Estany de les Truites. The nearest village is Arinsal, and the valley to the south serves as a ski area.

Archaeological finds show that Neolithic populations settled in the surrounding hills and left behind megalithic structures throughout the area. These ancient remains indicate that humans have traveled and worked in these alpine regions for thousands of years.

The name Aspres comes from the local toponymy, and the peak stands beside the Pic del Port Vell near the Spanish border. The valley south of the mountain is used as a ski area, so the same slopes that hikers cross in summer carry skiers in winter. Neolithic settlers of the dels Aspres hills built megalithic dolmens in the area.

The hike to the summit requires moderate to good fitness levels and some alpine experience, as trails gain elevation quickly through exposed terrain. Weather conditions can change rapidly at this altitude, so visitors should come prepared with layers and check local conditions before heading out.

The cirque holding Estany de les Truites lies about 250 metres below the summit and measures roughly 100 metres across; it was carved by glacial erosion during the Last Glacial Maximum. The lake's name means "trout lake". The valley south of the mountain serves as a ski area.
