Camp Warehouse, Military base in Kabul, Afghanistan
Camp Warehouse was an international military base roughly 10 kilometers east of Kabul with signal operations centers and storage facilities for military equipment and supplies. The facility also housed a field hospital run by a multinational medical task force.
German forces established this base in 2002 as part of the international security assistance mission and it served as an operational hub for over 2 decades. The facility remained active until 2021 when Taliban forces took control of the country.
The camp housed military personnel from eleven countries including Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, and Germany who worked together in this shared space. This international presence shaped daily life and the character of the facility.
The site is located in the eastern zone of Kabul and was heavily restricted to civilians during its active years due to its military function. Access to the grounds required special authorization or official affiliation with the international military operations.
A memorial honoring 26 coalition soldiers who died at the base was later moved to the Forest of Remembrance near Potsdam in Germany. This tribute keeps alive the memory of those who gave their lives during the mission.
