Baba Hatim Ziyarat

Baba Hatim Ziyarat is an 11th century mausoleum in Imam Sahib distinguished by octagonal colonettes at its corners. The dome features four concentric rings of protruding bricks on its exterior surface.

The mausoleum was built in the 11th century and served as an important religious site for centuries. Between 1978 and 1979, French and Afghan archaeologists carried out extensive restoration work, reconstructing missing sections.

The mausoleum draws visitors from surrounding communities who come to pray and perform traditional ceremonies at the site. The place holds deep spiritual importance for those who visit.

The mausoleum sits in a rural setting near the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan and is best reached on foot. The area can feel remote, so it helps to ask local guides or residents before planning your visit.

After restoration, the dome was crowned with a metal finial at its peak that completes the structure. This was a key step in stabilizing the building and preventing water damage.
