Sazan Island, Military island in Vlorë County, Albania
Sazan Island is a triangular landmass rising roughly 59 meters above the Adriatic Sea off the coast of Vlorë, covering about 5.7 square kilometers. Concrete bunkers and military structures are scattered across the terrain, forming the primary features of the landscape.
The island became part of Albania in 1871 and subsequently served as a strategic naval base during various conflicts throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Its military status enabled major construction that transformed it into an Adriatic coastal defense center.
