Garni Temple, Hellenistic temple in Garni, Armenia.

At the edge of a cliff overlooking the Azat River, the temple features 24 columns in classical Ionic style with basalt stone construction.

The temple, erected around 77 CE by King Tiridates I, remained standing through Armenia's conversion to Christianity in the 4th century until an earthquake in 1679.

The structure incorporates Armenian decorative elements including pomegranates, grapes, hazelnut leaves, and flowers within its Hellenistic architectural design.

The temple stands 28 kilometers east of Yerevan, with regular transportation services from the capital bringing visitors to this archaeological complex.

Following the 1679 earthquake, the temple underwent reconstruction between 1969 and 1975 using the anastylosis technique, marking each new stone for identification.
