Yeranos is a mountain in Gegharkunik Province that rises 1823 meters above sea level with varied slope angles. Its northern side drops steeply, while the southern and eastern slopes rise more gradually as part of the Geghama range.
The mountain sits near the ruins of Dvin, which served as Armenia's capital in the fourth century and remained significant throughout medieval times. The region has a long history as a settled and culturally important area.
The summit holds meaning for local hiking communities who gather here to maintain traditional Armenian mountain practices. These gatherings connect visitors with regional customs that remain part of everyday mountain culture.
The trail begins in Garni village and crosses the Azat River before following the mountain ridge for about 25 kilometers. The route ends with a descent toward Lanjazat village near the Azat Reservoir.
The mountain's northern section borders Khosrov Forest State Reserve, which contains striking geological formations. One of these distinctive structures is known locally as the Sphinx because of its distinctive shape.
