Ardvi monastery

Ardvi monastery is a religious complex in Lori Province consisting of two main structures with multiple chambers positioned on elevated terrain above the village. The site integrates into the natural rocky landscape and remains active for worship and prayer.

The monastery was established in the 8th century as a place of religious significance for the Armenian Church. It contains the burial site of Saint Hovhannes Odznetsi, an important historical figure in the church's past.

The monastery features carved stone reliefs that showcase traditional Armenian religious craftsmanship. These ornamental works give the site its distinctive visual character and reflect local artistic practices.

Near the monastery lies the Odzi Port spring, associated with a local legend in which a holy figure transformed a serpent into stone. This tale remains part of the place's oral tradition and adds a layer of folklore to the visit.
