4 de Abril Bridge

The 4 de Abril Bridge extends 438 meters across the Catumbela River, with a central span of 160 meters and two U-shaped towers reaching 50 meters.

Construction of the bridge began in July 2007 under Portuguese engineering firms and reached completion in September 2009, representing an investment of 27 million.

The bridge name commemorates the 2002 peace agreements that ended the Angolan civil war, marking a new chapter in the country's development.

The structure connects Benguela and Lobito with four traffic lanes and separate pedestrian walkways, supporting regional transportation between northern and southern provinces.

Two access viaducts and a 170-meter platform over the river create a distinctive engineering solution for crossing the Catumbela River.
