Bautista Gargantini Stadium lies inside General San Martín Park in Mendoza and is owned and operated by Club Independiente Rivadavia. Its stands include the tribuna oeste, the first concrete-built grandstand in Argentina, the Salvador Iúdica stand of 1965, an east stand and a north stand for visiting fans holding about 4,000. Capacity figures differ between sources, from 16,000 to about 24,000.

The stadium opened on April 5, 1925, with an inaugural match between Independiente Rivadavia and Uruguayan club Peñarol, which Peñarol won 2-0. This opening game marked the beginning of its long role as a venue for football in Mendoza.

Independiente Rivadavia is known as "La Lepra" (the leprosy club), a name tied to the land the stadium was built on, which had previously been used for leprosy patients. The ground is nicknamed "La Catedral del Parque" for its concrete profile inside General San Martín Park. In 2008 the club introduced digital entry, a first for Argentine football.

The stadium is located at Avenida Boulogne Sur Mer 688 and is easy to find since it sits within General San Martin Park. It is worth allowing extra time before a match to locate the correct entrance and seating area.

The western grandstand was the first concrete-built spectator section in Argentine football, marking a major step forward in how stadiums were constructed. This structure is recognized by experts as a turning point in how modern sports venues were built at that time.
