Iglesia de San Antonio de Padua, Franciscan church in San Felipe, Chile.
The San Antonio de Padua Church features neoclassical architecture with a 30-meter-high tower and proportionate frontage designed by architect Eduardo Provasoli.
Construction of the church began in 1872, with the tower added between 1878 and 1883, following the establishment of a Franciscan convent in 1865.
The interior contains religious imagery from the colonial period and decorations in pale blue, pink, and yellow tones that imitate marble stone.
The church maintains regular religious services and welcomes visitors who want to explore its architectural features and participate in community activities.
Italian Franciscan missionary Antonio Gavilucci established a convent, novitiate, and study house in El Almendral to prepare Italian Franciscans for missions in southern Chile.
