Surquillo

Surquillo is an administrative district in Lima that lies between San Isidro, San Borja, Miraflores, and Santiago de Surco. The densely populated area contains multiple neighborhoods and features a busy central market that defines much of its commercial activity.

The area became an independent administrative district in 1949, reflecting Lima's rapid growth during the 20th century. This separation occurred as the population expanded and new residential neighborhoods developed.
