Utcubamba Province, Administrative province in Amazonas, Peru.
Utcubamba Province is an administrative area in Amazonas covering several districts in northern Peru with varied terrain. Bagua Grande serves as the main city and commercial hub for the region.
The province was officially created by Law 23843 on May 30, 1984, during Fernando Belaunde Terry's presidency. This establishment reorganized the administrative structure of the Amazonas region.
The Spanish language predominates throughout the province while Chachapoyas Quechua maintains official status in specific administrative contexts.
Most visitors arrive first in Bagua Grande, where hotels and basic services are concentrated. From there, visitors can reach the Utcubamba Canyon, hot springs, and surrounding districts relatively easily.
The Jamalca district holds the Nina Yacu thermal springs, which receive less attention from visitors compared to other hot springs in the area. These waters attract travelers looking for authentic experiences away from the main routes.
