Salinas Canton

Salinas Canton is a coastal administrative division in Santa Elena Province that encompasses the city of Salinas along with smaller communities and rural areas. The territory combines urban and countryside zones into a single jurisdiction that faces the Pacific Ocean.

The region originated as a small fishing settlement that gained administrative status in 1937 through an official decree. This recognition transformed the area into a formal municipality and marked a turning point in its organization.
