Jardín botánico de Guayaquil

The Botanical Garden of Guayaquil is a 5-hectare space holding over 320 identified plant species, including native trees, palms, cacti, orchids, and tropical plants. Each plant group grows in areas designed to match their natural conditions.

The Ecuadorian Orchideology Association founded this garden in 1979 after a decade of planning and development work. The project grew from a desire to protect Ecuador's diverse plant life and make it publicly accessible.

The garden serves as a meeting place for people interested in plants and nature conservation, showing through its layout how important preserving native species is in Ecuador. Visitors can learn here how different plant species live together in their natural settings.

The garden is located in the northern Las Orquídeas district near Cerro Colorado and remains open year-round. The best times for bird watching are during the early morning hours.

The space hosts an annual Mango Festival featuring more than 60 different mango varieties available for tasting. This celebration combines fruit sampling with learning about cultivation techniques and the importance of the crop to the region.
