Lago Roca is a lake located in Los Glaciares National Park in southern Patagonia. The water is surrounded by forests of ñire and lenga trees and sits at approximately 4 meters (13 feet) above sea level.
The lake was created by glacial movements during the last ice age that reshaped the entire Santa Cruz region. These ancient ice masses left behind the valley where the water now collects.
Local indigenous communities developed fishing techniques specific to this lake, passing down their methods through generations of inhabitants.
The area offers two camping options with different comfort levels for visitors. The main site provides grills and bathroom facilities, while Huala offers basic camping for those seeking a simpler setup.
The water acts like a large mirror, reflecting the steppe vegetation and mountain peaks in the surrounding landscape. On clear days, visitors can see the mountain forms distinctly mirrored in the surface.
