Club de Regatas La Marina, Rowing club in Tigre Partido, Argentina.
Club de Regatas La Marina is a rowing and sports club located on the waterfront in Tigre, Argentina, with direct access to the river delta. Alongside the rowing docks, the grounds include a swimming pool, tennis courts, and a soccer field.
The club was founded in 1876 and first operated from a rented hall before moving to its current riverside site in Tigre in 1927. President Marcelo T. de Alvear attended the opening of the new location, marking it as an event of national note.
The name La Marina points directly to the club's roots on the water, and rowing remains the heart of daily life there. On weekends, the docks fill with rowers preparing their boats, giving the place a working, river-bound character that visitors can easily feel.
The club is accessible only by boat, departing from a dock at Paseo Victorica near the corner of Colón, a short ride from the shore. Visiting on a weekend gives you the best chance of seeing the club in full activity.
Eduardo Guerrero and Tranquilo Capozzo, both members of this club, won the rowing gold medal at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. It was Argentina's first Olympic gold in rowing, achieved by two athletes trained on these very docks.
