Museum of Argentine Artists Benito Quinquela Martín

This museum displays over 90 paintings and etchings created by a self-taught artist who documented the port district's story. The works are arranged across three floors, allowing visitors to move through different subjects and periods.

The collection was founded in 1936 inside a school building that the artist donated to the neighborhood. This founding was an early effort to preserve the artistic record of a district shaped by working people and immigrants.

The works here show port workers and ships that defined this neighborhood's character. The paintings capture how people lived and worked along the waterfront in their daily routines.

The museum occupies the third floor of a school building in the port district and is easy to reach on foot. It works best to visit in the morning or early afternoon to see the artworks in good light.

The museum holds carved wooden ship figureheads from the 19th century that recall the port's maritime past. These rare objects connect seafaring craftsmanship with the art collection in an unexpected way.
