Fundación Proa, Contemporary art gallery in La Boca, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Fundación Proa is an art center in La Boca with three floors, four exhibition halls, and a multimedia auditorium. The renovated building features a modern glass facade and houses a specialized library.
The foundation was established in 1996 and underwent a complete transformation in 2008 by the Caruso-Torricella Milan studio. It retained its Italianate facade while gaining modern additions.
The foundation presents works by artists from around the world and invites visitors to talks and concerts. These events create space for people in the city to engage with and discuss art together.
The site is located at Pedro de Mendoza Avenue 1929 and offers a café with a terrace on the second floor. From there, visitors can look out toward the Matanza-Riachuelo River.
The building merges industrial heritage with modern design through transparent facades that link the exhibition spaces with the port neighborhood. These glass walls create a visual bridge between art and the bustling port setting around it.
