Hotel Majestic, Eclectic hotel building near Avenida de Mayo, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Hotel Majestic is a nine-story building at the intersection of Avenida de Mayo and Santiago del Estero street in Buenos Aires with eclectic architectural design. The structure features an elaborate lobby that connects the ground level to upper floors and opens onto a rooftop terrace.
Architects F. L. Collivadino and I. Benedetti built the structure between 1905 and 1909 following a design competition held by La Mutua cooperative. It was later taken over by the Agency of Administration of State Assets and eventually transferred to the National Parks Administration.
The building displays artistic wrought iron staircases, wooden railings, and ornamental details that reflect early 20th-century design in Argentina. These handcrafted elements remind visitors of when luxury hotels like this shaped urban life.
The building sits centrally on one of Buenos Aires' main streets and is easily accessible on foot. Since it now serves administrative purposes, visitors can examine the exterior and architectural details from the street level.
The rooftop terrace offers views of downtown Buenos Aires and shows how hotel owners in the Belle Époque created spaces for guests to relax and gather. Such rooftop areas were places where visitors could enjoy the city from above.
