Museo Usina Molet, Industrial heritage museum in Pedanía Calera, Argentina.
Museo Usina Molet occupies a former industrial building beside the Suquía River, displaying original turbines and electrical control panels spread across three exhibition floors. The structure itself shows how early power facilities were designed and operated.
This facility began in 1903 as a calcium carbide production plant but quickly shifted to generating electricity for the region. For decades, it supplied power to Córdoba and the surrounding areas as one of the area's earliest energy sources.
The name comes from the Usina Molet facility, which shaped how the surrounding region developed and accessed electricity. Walking through the building, you can sense how this place connected local communities to modern power.
The museum sits about 22 kilometers south on Provincial Route E 55 and is easily reached by road. Plan your visit from Wednesday to Sunday, when the building is regularly open to guests.
The museum still houses the original Brown Boveri generators, now known as ABB, sitting in their original spots from when the plant operated. These machines are rare examples of early Swiss electrical engineering that was installed in South America.
