Genaro Perez Museum, Municipal art museum in central Córdoba, Argentina
The Genaro Perez Museum is an art museum housed in a French-style mansion at General Paz Avenue 33 in Córdoba. It holds a large collection of Argentine paintings spanning from 1868 to the present day.
The building was constructed in 1905 in the French style and originally served as a governor's residence. In 1947 it was converted into a museum by municipal decree.
The collection traces different artistic movements and shows how Argentine painting evolved from the 1800s onward. You can see how artists responded to changes happening in their country.
The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday and on holidays, with free admission to all galleries. Guided tours are available to help you understand the artworks and the building.
The ceiling of the main hall was painted by artist Emilio Caraffa and gives the room a special artistic quality. This detail connects the building's architecture with the art collection inside.
