The theater features a horseshoe-shaped concert hall extending across five floors with seating for 1000 patrons beneath ornate European sculptures and columns.
Francesco Tamburini designed this Italianate theater in 1887 at the request of Provincial Justice Minister Ramón J. Cárcano to fill Córdoba's need for a concert venue.
The venue serves as headquarters for Córdoba Province's official music, singing, and dance companies, including the Córdoba Symphony Orchestra and Provincial Ballet.
The main auditorium operates alongside two smaller halls, Luis de Tejeda and Rafael Grisolía, each accommodating 100 visitors for seminars and youth performances.
The theater maintains its original stage machinery in working condition, a characteristic rarely found among historical theaters worldwide.
