La Perla Córdoba, Place of National Historic Site in Malagueño, Argentina.
La Perla Córdoba is a memorial site in Malagueño, Córdoba Province, housed in the buildings of a former clandestine detention center. Several rooms display photographs, documents, and personal belongings that honor the memory of those held here between 1976 and 1983.
During the Argentine military dictatorship starting in 1976, the regime used the site as a secret detention facility for political prisoners. After the return to democracy, the government transformed the location into a public memorial in 2007.
The name comes from the time when the site stood on land known as La Perla hill. Today the facility serves as a meeting place for school groups, students, and visitors who come to learn about the defense of human rights.
The site is reached via Ruta Provincial E55 southwest of Córdoba, and admission is free. Groups need to book in advance, while individual visitors can often arrive without reservation and join a guided tour if available.
Survivors and relatives of victims actively participated in shaping the exhibition spaces and contributed their stories. Many of these testimonies continue to feed ongoing judicial investigations and help clarify crimes committed during the dictatorship.
