Iglesia de los Capuchinos, Neo-Gothic church in Nueva Cordoba, Argentina.
Iglesia de los Capuchinos is a Neo-Gothic place of worship in Nueva Córdoba with two distinct towers, one incomplete and the other rising 70 meters high. The facade displays detailed sculptures while seventy columns of different types run throughout the structure.
Work began in 1926, making this the first reinforced concrete church building in Argentina. Construction was completed in 1934, though one tower remained unfinished for technical reasons.
Local residents and students often refer to the building as "los Capuchinos" after the nearby Capuchin order foundation. Inside, visitors notice twelve ceiling panels representing months with stars positioned exactly as they appeared over the city when observed from within.
The building stands at the corner of Buenos Aires and Obispo Oro streets and offers guided tower visits with sweeping views over the center. Visitors can explore the interior during worship times or by arrangement.
Among the seventy columns, twenty-four smooth ones represent strength and faith while the rest carry different decorations. Animal figures on the facade shift from negative to positive symbols as they climb from bottom to top.
