Gobernador Oroño bridge, Road bridge in Santa Fe, Argentina.
The Gobernador Oroño Bridge is a road structure spanning approximately 380 meters across Setúbal Lake with four traffic lanes and a wide deck. It connects Santa Fe with Paraná and leads to the Raúl Uranga-Carlos Sylvestre Begnis underwater tunnel.
Construction of the bridge began in 1968, with temporary opening in 1970 before official inauguration on September 30, 1971. This completion marked a major step in connecting the two riverbanks for traffic flow.
The bridge features the Fountain of Cordiality, a sculpture by Baldomero Banús at its eastern end, which serves as a reminder of the former Oroño Park. This fountain is visible to those crossing and has become a landmark for the city.
Crossing the bridge is straightforward since it is part of the regular traffic route and well marked. Pedestrians and cyclists should be aware that this is primarily designed for vehicle traffic.
The western entrance of the bridge was constructed over the former Oroño Park, fundamentally reshaping Santa Fe's urban landscape. This transformation shows how infrastructure projects have shaped the city's geography.
