The theatre, inaugurated on June 5, 1912, emerged from a family initiative to honor Don Bartolomé Macció following his death in the early 1900s.

Visitors can purchase tickets at the box office, which opens at 7:00 PM on performance days, or through the official website.
Carlos Gardel, the celebrated tango singer, performed his final Uruguayan concert at Teatro Macció before his death.
