Quebrada del Toro

Quebrada del Toro is a canyon and valley cutting through mountainous terrain, stretching across multiple kilometers with steep walls and elevated peaks throughout. The landscape rises dramatically as you travel through the valley, with several spots to stop and take in the views along the way.

The area was home to indigenous groups like the Atacameño people before Inca control spread across the region. A railway line was later constructed through the valley to connect remote mountain communities with the city of Salta.

The Train to the Clouds railway, connecting Salta to San Antonio de los Cobres, represents a significant engineering achievement that showcases the region's development.

The main Route 51 highway runs through the valley and provides access to several small settlements along the way. The best time to visit is during warmer months when road conditions are more stable.

The rock walls display different types of stone and colors, shifting from grey rocks to reddish layers at certain locations. These color changes make the landscape particularly interesting and visually striking for photography.
