Valle de Lerma is an agricultural valley in central Salta Province that contains multiple rivers flowing into the Río Salado system. The area sits at roughly 1,000 meters elevation and connects different geographic zones within the province.
The valley was originally a rural area with farming as the main activity. From the mid-1900s onward, it transformed into a regional center and now holds more than half the province's population.
