Mburuvicha Róga

Mburuvicha Róga is the presidential residence in Asunción, designed in neoclassical style with prominent columns and formal architectural details. The main building sits within a large grounds area featuring extensive landscaped gardens and multiple access points.

Italian immigrants Cristóbal and José Peris built this mansion for President Emilio Aceval in the early 20th century. The government took control of it in 1942 through official decree and has used it as the presidential residence since then.

The name comes from the Guarani language, where Mburuvicha means leader, connecting indigenous heritage with modern government in Paraguay. You can see this cultural link reflected in how the place is named and what it represents for the country.

The complex has multiple access points along different streets serving official functions and government activities. Access may be limited since it is an active government property, so plan accordingly when visiting the area.

The residence once housed one of Asunción's first private swimming pools, originally built for water therapy purposes. This pool represented a modern luxury when the mansion was first constructed for its original owner.
