Torres, Coastal municipality in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

Torres is a coastal municipality in southern Rio Grande do Sul. The town is defined by four large basalt rock formations that rise from the Atlantic Ocean, reaching approximately 40 meters above sea level.

The town received its official status in 1878, emerging from a passage point for cattle drivers traveling from northern regions. This foundation shaped its early growth.

The balloon festival shapes how locals and visitors see the town, drawing enthusiasts from across Brazil and beyond. This celebration has become central to how people experience the place during those festive weeks.

The town attracts many visitors during summer months, so planning ahead is helpful. Lodging and facilities are well-developed to handle the increased demand during peak season.

Off the coast sits an island home to a sea lion colony, located roughly one and a half kilometers from the main beach. This natural feature remains one of the area's distinctive elements.
