Casa da Feitoria Velha - Atual Museu do Imigrante, Immigration museum in São Leopoldo, Brazil
The Casa da Feitoria Velha building combines Portuguese architecture and Bavarian elements, displaying agricultural tools and historical tombstones from São Leopoldo's past.
Originally established in 1788 as the Royal Hemp Factory, the building served as temporary housing for German immigrants arriving from Hamburg in 1824.
The museum exhibits document the German immigration experience through a collection of 10,000 objects, 25,000 books, and 85,000 photographs.
Located two kilometers from São Leopoldo's center along Imperatriz Leopoldina Avenue, the museum maintains regular visiting hours for educational groups.
The building stands near an old ox cart trail that connected Lomba Grande to São Leopoldo's markets, marking a significant trade route.
