Arena do Grêmio, Football stadium in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Arena do Grêmio is a football stadium in Porto Alegre, Brazil, built from steel and glass with seating arranged across several tiers. The pitch sits below street level and the stands rise steeply around it, allowing clear views from all sections of the bowl.
Construction began in September 2010 on land to the north of the city center. The facility opened in December 2012, taking over from the previous home ground that had served the club for decades.
The venue takes its name from Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense and on match days displays blue, white and black club colors throughout its stands. Supporters gather wearing team jerseys and scarves, filling the tiers with chants and rhythmic singing that echo across the bowl during games.
Parking is available inside the complex with covered spaces for visitors arriving by car. Access roads connect the site to major routes across Porto Alegre, making arrival straightforward from different parts of the city.
The pitch uses a system where synthetic fibers are woven into natural grass. This combination helps the surface withstand wear from matches and other events held at the venue.
