The Palacio do Vice Governador is an eclectic architectural palace located in the Floresta neighborhood of Porto Alegre. The building features high ceilings, expansive windows, ornamental decorations and stained glass distributed across two floors and a basement level.
The palace was constructed in 1926 by Italian engineer Armando Boni as a residence for merchant Santo Meneghetti. It was designed with the intention of accommodating Count Galezzo Ciano during his South American travels.
The palace serves as home to the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra's administrative offices and a music school, playing an active role in the city's arts education.
The building is situated in the Floresta neighborhood along Cristovao Colombo Street at a corner location. Multiple exhibition spaces are open to visitors and the site regularly hosts cultural events throughout the year.
The building received protected heritage status from the Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage of Rio Grande do Sul in 1996. This recognition reflects its importance as a key example of eclectic architecture in the region.
